Our first contact was with Andres Matheu, who provided the initial estimate, and who was very clear about details, including different types of paint we might use, methods they would use to address existing mildew and wood rot, and procedures that might be necessary for lead abatement (house was built in 1920, and exterior tests were all positive). Hömm was neither the lowest nor the highest bid we received, but we felt they were the most thorough in anticipating the needs of the job, and very up-front about safety and certifications needed.

We anticipated there might be delays due to weather, and so the few we had weren’t an issue for us (we had an experience with a different company some years ago that was rushed through bad weather, so we were more interested in having it done right). The Hömm crew was very professional and thorough, and we received an update each workday from Andres summarizing the progress and keeping us abreast of the expected time for completion where weather was a factor.

We would readily hire Hömm again, and would recommend to others. We have received numerous compliments on how the house looks. Our final bill came in below the original estimate. Overall, it is a very high quality job, done for a reasonable price and the company was very pleasant to work with throughout the job.

Customer Comments: There was a weather delay in the job immediately preceding mine so I was delayed a week. They were always on time, professional and very neat. The installation of the crown molding was excellent. I purchased it and had it delivered to my home waiting for them. Andres gave me an accurate estimate of what I needed to order and in fact, I had enough left over to do another bedroom which I will have them do on another job. The crew was always very careful and respectful of my furnishings and covered everything with new, clean plastic and used tarps on the wood floors. I moved all of my fragile items and art work to two bedrooms which were not included in this job in order to facilitate a clearer work area for them. You can’t escape the dust from sanding which does drift everywhere, but I was already planning on doing a thorough deep cleaning when they finished. The crew was neat, clean and always cheerful and polite. They worked all day and only took a lunch break. Their attention to detail on the trim work was wonderful and all the walls and ceilings look lovely. I found no sloppy paint drips anywhere. I’m extremely pleased with the outcome and will definitely have them return to complete two bedrooms with crown molding and fresh paint. Worth the price which I felt was very reasonable as it included all paint and labor. The job was completed in three days total. I highly recommend this company for a quality job. Description Of Work:First, they did a very thorough pressure washing of our deck. Later, the deck was stained with a quality brand name stain/sealer. Everything was included and there were no extra charges to worry about. They delivered exactly what was promised and the team did a terrific job.
Customer Comments:Andres followed up promptly after we purchased this service as an Angie’s List “Big Deal”. He came out to the house to look our deck over, arrived exactly on time and was very professional and courteous. He explained the process, the materials that would be used and the estimated timing involved. Shortly after the visit, Andres called to let us know the work would take place at the end of June and he would get in touch with the specific day. As promised, Andres notified us of the schedule, the pressure washing came first and the person who did it put a lot of time in on it, we were amazed how clean the deck was and how much of the old stain was removed. He was very detailed and made sure all the upright rails were fully cleaned.
A couple days later, the staining team arrived, right on time, did a beautiful job applying the stain and they were very careful to ensure complete coverage, checking and double-checking their work. After a full day in the hot sun, they returned the next day for the final coat. All in all, Hömm Certified Painting Systems did an excellent job from start to finish. From the initial visit to the final product, we couldn’t have been more pleased. Andres followed up afterwards to make sure we were pleased and we were! The material may not have lent itself to a fresh coat(s) of paint. But otherwise they did work that went beyond the scope of the job, including taking down our gutters, basketball hoop and managed to remove the vines and mask the network of lines that had embedded themselves into our brick.

Customer Comments: The owner was very conscientious in getting back to me after I contacted him (based on Angie’s List rating) and set up a time to meet me and go over the job.  We both recognized that the extent of carpentry work could not be fully assessed until some boards were removed, so in the estimate this was to be billed for time and materials.  Got a comprehensive proposal which fully specified the work and the cost (and estimated cost of carpentry repair) within a day of meeting.  Since the company was very busy as a result of its high Angie’s List rating, the work could not commence for several weeks.  However, when advised that I was having an event at the end of June, Homm went the extra mile and got its crew over at the beginning of the last week of June.  The crew worked very hard and continuously for three days.  Since I was home I could see the level of care and craftsmanship, as well as the extent of the dry rot that was uncovered.  I was very impressed with the professionalism of the owner, his foremen and the workmen.  They did an outstanding job.  The cost was somewhat more than estimated, but reasonable considering the extent of extra carpentry required as a result of the dry rot.  I am very satisfied with the results and my house looked great for the big event.

Customer Comments: I was relocating to NoVA from Manhattan and I signed up for Angie’s List to find painters for my new construction townhouse in Vienna, to paint the complete interior. When I called Homm, someone picked up right away, and within 2 days, I had a full detailed estimate emailed to me. The price was reasonable, and I was pleased to see they had really taken detailed measurements to ensure the estimate was correct and there would be no surprises when the bill was due. Also, I emailed Homm the paint colors and they handled getting the paint no problem— I enjoyed it being so hassle free. On the day of the job, three well-mannered gentleman showed up and immediately got to work. It was supposed to be a two day job, but on the first day, I was informed it would take an extra 1/2 day. I was very pleased that they told me the first morning, so I could make other arrangements to allow for this extra 1/2 day. And I was also pleased that they felt comfortable asking for more time up front in order to do the job right. Throughout the job, the painters were respectful of our space, and we felt comfortable leaving them at the house unsupervised while we went to do local errands. We’d come home and find them all working hard (no fooling around) and singing. I also liked that Andres, who ran the business part of Homm, stopped by each day to ensure work was on schedule and that we were happy. A few days after the job was finished, I did notice some minor touchups that were needed, and some paint on the carpet, and Homm immediately responded to my email and are coming this week to finish it off. Talk about customer service! I wish all contractors made me feel so comfortable, were so upfront, and provided such a high quality work. Description Of Work: I have used Homm Certified Painting Systems for both the interior and exterior (at different times) of my townhome and was very pleased with the results.  They came out to take a look at the house and were very professional in their inspection and detail oriented in their quote.  The work they did was completed as expected, on time, and on cost.  Their quote price was excellent (the least expensive of the quotes I received for my exterior – and they came in at my budgeted amount for the interior).  I found Andre, the person we worked with, was a bit gruff at the beginning, but I understood he was being methodical and his results spoke for themselves.  For our exterior, I shared part of a wall with my neighbor, and Homm coordinated with both of us to complete the work.  Their workers started on time and ended on time – and were well supervised.  
I was very impressed by the work they gave and I highly recommend them.  They will be the painters I use in the future for my projects.
Customer Comments: Andre came out to give a quote on the exterior of our townhome.  I described what he and my neighbor wanted and he talked with my neighbor, as well.  After he gave us a quote, we compared with the other quotes we received, and not only was the work comparable, if not better detailed than the others, their price was outstanding.  Homm estimated the amount of time it would take, and then scheduled the date to do the painting with my neighbor and me.  I took the day off to supervise, but I really didn’t need to.  The workers showed up on time, along with the supervisor and knew exactly what needed to be done.  Andre came about midday to check to see how things were progressing, and I pointed out a few spots I wanted looked at.  They even came back and repainted my gate, even though I realized it was actually a good job (after it dried).  They handled some additions added by my neighbor easily.  The cleaned up, and everything looked great at the end.  The billing was easy, and I was very impressed with the process from beginning to end.
For the interior, Andre came out again and measured the area I needed.  He offered some advice on the paint scheme and what areas needed paint (he had some great advice).  He quickly followed up with an quote, and then scheduled the date (he came in at the amount I had in mind).  Homm’s worker came and took care of all of the painting (there was one mistake which required some additional paint, but he quickly pointed out – and truthfully, the mistake was my own fault, as I changed my mind at the last minute).  It took a little longer than I expected, but I realized I had under estimated how much time it would have taken.  Again, I was very impressed with Homm, and the results were great.

It was scheduled to be a two-day job and it was – both days the crew arrived promptly at the specified time and cleaned up everything at the end of each day. Andres checked in with them multiple times during the day and even called me directly for clarification on the bathroom. 
This crew did the best “prep” work I have ever seen. From fixing any sort of irregularity in the walls and/or ceiling to having to apply a coat of primer, the surfaces were perfect for the actual painting. The painting went without incident and we are extremely pleased with the result.

Description Of Work: Homm power-washed our two-story shingled home, as well as our patio and walkways.  They then stained the shingles, and painted the wood trim and shutters.  They repaired and replaced wooden railings and trim as needed.

Customer Comments: Based on recommendations we found on Angie’s List, we asked three contractors to provide cost estimates for painting the exterior of our shingled house.  Andres Mathieu, the head of Homm, came himself, examined the exterior very carefully and described in detail how his team would proceed with the power-washing, repairs and painting (actually, staining) of the house:  the process, the materials, and the timing.  
Homm’s estimate was in the middle of the three bids, but was the more reasonable of the bids that promised the highest quality job.
All of the painters and powerwashers were polite, pleasant, efficient and professional, but the team’s lead carpenter, Roger, deserves special mention.  When Andres gave us the estimate, he had advised us that a carpenter would look at the all of the wood and the shutters and that the carpenter’s charges for lumber, materials and labor would be in addition to the estimate, at a published rate.  Roger balanced  cost and quality considerations as we discussed how to replace or repair deteriorating wood in trim or railings.   As a result of Roger’s expertise, we now have railings and trim that won’t need to be replaced every few years, as we have had to do in the past.
We had several questions for Andres in the course of the week, and found that he always responded within the day.  He remained accessible and responsive even after the job was completed.
The Homm’s team did exactly what Andres had described, and did it to perfection.  The staining is uniform and reached into the interstices between shingles, the edges where the shingles meet woodwork are perfect, plants near the house were gently tied back so that the painters could access the house, and no mess was left behind on any day nor at the end of the job.
In sum, the whole experience was pleasant and calm, and the product is top-notch.   And we have a two-year limited warranty should a relevant problem develop.  We recommend Homm most highly.

Customer comments: I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal coupon for $565 to have three rooms painted. Andres made an appointment to come to my house to measure and plan for the job. My coupon covered the painting for my living room, home office, and hallway – and then I paid extra for the foyer (with high ceiling), stairways, and another hallway, as well as for the paint itself. Andres made helpful suggestions for paint type and colors, as I was having difficulty making a decision. Because of my work commitments, I needed to postpone the work and Andres was very gracious about that. In the interim, he promptly returned my calls and emails, and scheduled the work at a time convenient to both of us. The day of the job, Omar and his two associates arrived on time, and Omar walked around with me reviewing the details of the job they would do. They moved the furniture, and covered everything. They prepped before painting, caulking gaps on trim and repairing cracks and holes in the walls. Andres stopped by in the afternoon to see how everything was going. They finished all the painting in one day – two coats of paint, cleaned up and moved furniture back in place. They even cleaned out the basement set-tub after washing their brushes, and swept my front sidewalk! They were very professional and I am pleased with their service.

Description Of Work: They painted six rooms for me, two of them large (14×26). Homm also finished a wall paper removal task we had started but couldn’t finish. The two large rooms included a significant amount of built in cabinets and trim. They did this all in three and half days. When we asked them to work on a Saturday to help us meet a critical deadline for other stuff we were doing they gladly came and put in a full day’s work. When we needed them to show up a little earlier one morning so we could get out of the house to make early morning appointments they were here a half hour before that, at 7:30am.

Customer comments: I could not be more satisfied with Homm. Their painters were fast, very efficient and did tremendous quality work. Our house now looks fabulous because of the quality work they did. Mr. Matheiu also helped us with color matching to select the right wall colors to match our new window treatments. His color selections were absolutely perfect. The walls look fantastic with our new window treatments. We will definitely be using Homm again. Our house will need to be fully painted on the exterior in the spring of 2012. While I always competitively shop prices and capabilities, I’m sure I will be using Homm again. Mr. Matheiu is very professional in his work, and his team of painters follow his example. Because it rained on the first day, we were fortunate to have two teams painting our rooms. They worked fast, were always polite and made every effort to accomodate any touch-up changes I wanted.

We initially thought the price was a bit higher than expected, but the work done was absolutely worth the cost. These rooms are high use areas for our lifestyle and the walls have taken some abuse over the years since the last painting. The house is also 45 years old and has settled a bit, requiring some surface prep work in addition to basic painting. The job was completed to our satisfaction. Communication with the foreman was very professional and easy, even for mid-job issues we wanted to make sure would be addressed (they all were). The Homm team was conscientious about our home and belongings and did a very professional job. The rooms look great! We will definitely consider using Homm as we look to update other rooms in our house in the future.

Customer Comments: Arrived both days on time, nothing broken when they moved furniture, minimal leftover paint drips (literally I can think of 3 spots, all on highly polished surfaces so very easy to remove), two areas in kitchen where masking tape was left on (probably best anyway since the paint might have peeled based on the area they were left). Team leader, Omar, was very professional and helpful. I was having difficult time deciding how to paint Mstr BR, he and I discussed and re-discussed and he helped me make the right decision but never made me feel like he was pushing his preference on me. Price was unbelievable!! I mean, seriously, that many rooms for $2100? Who does that?! Just an overall excellent experience!
